Obtaining KMS keys for volume licensing agreements (EES, OVS-ES, etc.)
Since Spring 2014, KMS keys are not automatically added to a new agreement as less then 1% of KMS codes issued are actually in use (according to Microsoft). Therefore, KMS codes will need to be requested on a product-by-product basis:
- Determine your agreement number. It will be in the format V1234567
- Visit the Microsoft support services hub
- Pick Volume Licensing as Select the product family
- Pick Open Value or Open Value Subscription as What product or service do you need help with?
- Pick Product Keys as Which category best describes the issue?
- Pick Product Key Information as Which problem best describes the issue?
- Select Professional No Charge
- In the How would you summarize the issue? box enter Agreement V1234567: Need KMS host keys for Server 2025 Datacenter and Office 2024 LTSC - adjust the agreement number as relevant
- Enter We need KMS host keys for Windows Server 2025 Datacenter and Office LTSC Professional Plus 2024 for licence agreement V1234567 in the Use the template below to provide more details about the issue. box - adjust the agreement number as relevant
- Ensure your contact details are correct, particularly the phone number
- Click Submit
- The stated response time is 8 hours, business hours only. However, in our experience, you may get called back within an hour
The following telephone method no longer works (as of Feb 2026) as you are directed to use the online form instead:
- Call 0800 917 9016 (Microsoft Licensing)
- Press 1 to confirm you are OK with the call being recorded
- Wait (potentially quite a long time) to be put through
- A customer rep will ask you for the agreement/enrolment number and the product you need KMS keys for (e.g. Windows Server 2022 Datacenter)
- The customer rep will enable these on your Microsoft Volume License Service Center (MVLSC) portal within a few minutes, normally when you are still on the phone.
